How to Organize/ Redo Your Room

Hey guys!! Sorry it took so long to get my first post up! I was busy with soccer yesterday and school during the week. Also I hope you are all enjoying your Super Bowl Sunday!! I’m making stuffing and turkey and lots of unhealthy desserts, I tell myself its a special occasion. My step dad loves the patriots and the rest of the family are jets fans so it’s always interesting. Anyways last week I ordered a bunch of stuff off of amazon to organize my closet and room. So I’m going to be sharing with you how I organized my closet and room!!

1. Clean out everything

So the first thing you are going to want to do to clean your room really well is de-clutter everything from the closet to your dressers and clothes you don’t wear anymore. It helps to see what you have to work with, whether that be you Related imageneed more storage or more clothes or anything like that. You can give away any clothes that are in good shape and throw out un-salvageable stained clothes.

2. Decide what organization you want to use

If you are cleaning out your room and realize you have clothes everywhere and don’t know where to put them,  you have makeup bag and you always have to sift through it in the morning, or too many shoes. I recommend Sterilite drawer containers , the ones I linked I think are great to put into your closet and store clothes like sweaters you don’t want to get stretched. Or you can put shoes in them. There is a mini version of that drawer that is good to store jewelry or makeup or socks and underwear. Instead of getting drawers you can also use fabric storage cubes, or drawer dividers instead. Wooden crates, and little cups can help you organize too. You can get all of these through the links I gave from amazon or you can pick up similar products from target or any place like that.

3. Start to organize your clothes back into your new space

Beware this step is messy and might take a while but it is so satisfying when you have this step done well!! I recommend these velvet hangers. I know it might be cheaper to get plastic ones but I am telling you they make the biggest difference because yoimage2u won’t have that pile of clothes on the bottom of the closet of clothes that fell off your hangers. If you decide to use some sort of drawers it might be helpful to use labels on the outside of the drawers. If you’re feeling fancy you can pull out that washi tape and take a sharpie and write on the tape instead. Also when organizing your shoes you might want to put dryer sheets on the bottom of the drawers to stop any smell from the shoe
s that might happen.

4. Decorating

So now that you have put everything back you finally take a step back ready to relax when you realize that your room and closet is so plain!! If you have a walk in closet and you have room, you might want to put a nice comfortable chair to sit down when you put your shoes on, or if its super big maybe a table if you want to do your makeup in you closet. It all depends on how big it its. Like for me, mine is tiny so that would not work. Also you already probably have a full length mirror but if you don’t, I highly recommend. Once you have your mirror put string lights around it so you can get that good lighting for your mirror selfies and putting finishing touches. In your room you can print out some pictures you really like and frame them or buy prints from etsy. Lastly, adding a cute and modern clock adds a lot to a space.

5. The Bed

From homework, to Grey’s Anatomy,or to You tube I spend a lot of time on my bed, so I might as well make it cute! I recommend having a color scheme that way you know everything will flow together. In my bedroom I have blue walls so I stuck with timage1hat blue green theme. I tried to find the link to my duvet cover but unfortunately I don’t think they sell it anymore on PB teen. It is pool blue and navy blue in little diamond patterns. I have grey-blue sheets and a green pillowcase. My area rug right near my bed is blue and green polka dots. I just ordered some beachy throw pillows, they haven’t come yet so they will not be in the picture. Adding a throw blanket adds a lot too, mine is a light blue color.

Thank you so much for sticking through the whole thing!! I hope you enjoy your Sunday and the rest of the week.

xx,

Lindsay
